Their method? Secure the collaboration of Buddy and Pedro, Toronto’s famous naked gay penguins... The emergence of queer BDS (boycott, divestment, sanctions) as a dynamic Palestinian-led global movement is brought to vivid life through interviews and actions, opera and agitprop, protests and pranks. Recounting fifteen years of passionate activism in Toronto and worldwide, Photo Booth juxtaposes a surreal operatic narrative with documentary scenes that explore pride and pink-washing, gay soldiers and homo-nationalism, Queers Against Israeli Apartheid, and the accelerating weaponization of anti-Semitism. Queer activists Ghadir Shafie, Judith Butler, Ali Abunimah, and others recount the victories and set-backs of this emerging social justice movement. In his final performance, John Gilbert plays a bewildered Genet, attempting to engage with the digital queer activism of a new century, trying to navigate his way through the diverse challenges of megaphones and photo booths, twelve-tone and split-screen, frisbees and teargas, Gaga and Gaza, solidarity and silence… Content Advisory: male nudity Mask-wearing is encouraged. If you are feeling sick or have tested positive for Covid-19, we ask that you please stay home in order to care for fellow community members. |

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free! ⏰12-14uhr The assault by the Israeli army has commenced in Rafah, where 1.5 million displaced individuals sought shelter from bombings. Among them are 600,000 children, forced from their homes and residing in cramped tents lacking adequate provisions. Now, they face renewed attacks and displacement by the IDF. In the first months of the IDF attacks in Gaza, we as students of TU Berlin came to- gether to express our horror at the killing by the Israeli army in Gaza and Germany‘s complicity as the second largest supplier of weapons to Israel. We protested at the university to draw attention to the fact that this is a genocide against the Palestinian people. In recent weeks, we have seen clearly that we are not alone in this. Students in various countries have organized protests at their universities to demand an end to the genocide and occupation. We continue to demand that the German government advocate for an immediate ceasefire and that our university join us in pressuring the government. Instead of criticizing the complicity of the (US and German) governments, which sends weapons to Israel and have rejected the demand for a ceasefire, student protests are being criminalized in Germany and worldwide. The so-called Free University of Berlin exposes peacefully protesting students to brutal violence and criminal charges by the German police. Joe Biden, Kai Wegner, and Günter M. Ziegler (President of FU) accuse the protesters of violence and disruption of university operations. But where is the outrage that the IDF has bombed every single university in Gaza and made academic operations im- possible? As if that weren‘t enough, the Berlin Senate wants to introduce a new law that would empower Berlin universities to forcibly expel students against their will. This measure could then be applied to any form of political activism on campus.

17. Mai 2024(3 Veranstaltungen) N/A: Wear you Keffiyehs to your universities throught the week of the 11th to the 17th to take a stand and share your solidarity! 🔉Calling all students globally 🔊 World Keffiyeh Day is commemorated annually on May 11th as a visual way to raise awareness and show solidarity about the Palestinian cause through the use of the Keffiyeh - one of the most iconic symbols for Palestinians. And in the light of recent student oppression worlwide, we want to wear the Keffiyeh to university in order to demonstrate our resistance and commitment to standing with the people of Gaza and the students of Gaza, that have no more Universities left. It's a simple, yet symbolic call to action, reminding us that solidarity knows no boundaries and that together, we can effect change towards a more equitable world and a free palestine. Wearing the keffiyeh is visual reminder that the struggles of the Palestinian people, especially now those oppressed in Gaza, cannot be ignored, and it serves as a unifying symbol connecting our various student movements and all other groups, advocating for justice and human rights. 31.
