In diesem preisgekrönten Dokumentarfilm werfen die Regisseurinnen erstmals einen detaillierten Blick auf die Apartheid-Analogie, die üblicherweise zur Beschreibung des israelisch-palästinensischen Konflikts verwendet wird. Von Alice Walker (Autorin von The Color Purple) erzählt, ist Roadmap to Apartheid ein ebenso historisches Dokument über den Aufstieg und Fall der Apartheid in Südafrika wie ein Film darüber, warum viele Palästinenser*innen das Gefühl haben, heute in einem Apartheid-System zu leben, und warum immer mehr Menschen auf der ganzen Welt mit ihnen übereinstimmen.
Die Apartheid-Analogie ist zwar nicht perfekt, aber sie ist ein nützlicher Rahmen, um die Menschen über die komplexen Probleme, mit denen Israelis und Palästinenser*innen konfrontiert sind, aufzuklären. Unser Film beschäftigt sich mit diesen Fragen und vergleicht die vielen ähnlichen Gesetze und Werkzeuge, die sowohl von Israel als auch von Südafrika aus der Apartheid-Ära verwendet werden. Das Publikum wird sehen, wie das Leben der Palästinenser*innen im Westjordanland, im Gazastreifen und in Israel aussieht, während es mit Hilfe angesehener Analyst*innen ein tieferes Verständnis des Konflikts gewinnt. Zusammen mit Archivmaterial und Anekdoten von Südafrikaner*innen bildet der Film ein vollständiges Bild davon, warum die Analogie immer häufiger und stärker genutzt wird.

Narrated by Alice Walker (author of The Color Purple), Roadmap to Apartheid is as much a historical document of the rise and fall of apartheid in South Africa, as it is a film about why many Palestinians feel they are living in an apartheid system today, and why an increasing number of people around the world agree with them.
While not perfect, the apartheid analogy is a useful framework by which to educate people on the complex issues facing Israelis and Palestinians. Our film delves into those issues, comparing the many similar laws and tools used by both Israel and apartheid-era South Africa. The audience will see what life is like for Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and inside Israel while gaining a deeper understanding of the conflict with the help of respected analysts on the subject. Combined with archival material and anecdotes from South Africans, the film forms a complete picture as to why the analogy is being used with increasing frequency and potency.
